The Mighty Bluejays

In Game #2 (last weeks game was cancelled due to the field becoming a lake) the Bluejays showed signs of improvement. Not enough improvement to pull off a victory, but we'll take what we can get. Caleb had so much fun, and was thrilled that GaGa Brenda and Papa Jerry were there to see him play.

Lemonade Stand

The neighborhood kids worked together to set up a lemonade stand. They had quite a few workers which depleted the consumer pool, but they all had a good time. And, surprisingly enough, they made $10 (amounting to about $2 each). Good job, mini-entrepreneurs!

Welcome to the Gulf Coast!

Our first experience with a flash flood since moving here. Panic erupted as our street turned into a river, and we watched Old Red drown. Fortunately, the waters receded before water seeped into the interior, and all was well. Lesson learned: at the first sign of rain, park vehicles on highest possible elevation.

Easter

Easter weekend was quite rainy and wet. Note that Caleb's nicer clothes have been replaced by a Halloween sweatshirt, a concession to the weather. Nevertheless, the kids were able to enjoy a fun Easter egg hunt (complete with non-choking hazard candy). And they had a blast with the cascarones (confetti eggs). Somehow, Caleb still has a bit of dye on his scalp from those confetti eggs...the stuff is resilient.

City Easter Egg Hunt

We tried a citywide Easter Egg Hunt on the Saturday before Easter. The kids had a great time hunting the eggs, but they didn't actually get to enjoy the spoils of their labor. Inside each and every egg was a piece of hard candy (aka choking hazard) so we made the kids give their eggs away to other children who didn't have any. It felt slightly cruel, but they seemed to understand. And they got plenty of candy on Easter!

Seder

We had a Seder at home for the first time. It was really a neat experience, and the kids seemed to enjoy it. We hope to make it an annual tradition.
