Where do I even start?
I took a shower this morning, which is always a recipe for disaster. I had enjoyed the entire shower in peace, but as I was stepping out, Caleb came running into the room. "Madi's getting into trouble," he announced. I hurriedly went to assess the situation. She was in their bathroom, washing her hands. Most of her was covered in traces of black paint. I quickly sought out the trail of paint. Thankfully, there were no visible tracks on the carpet. When I got to the office, I found the bottle of paint alongside a puddle of paint which she had poured out. Fortunately, she had poured it onto a piece of construction paper. Hooray for small victories!
Later, the antics spiralled downhill. This time I was doing the dishes. Really, I can't turn my back on the child. I had left them playing in their room. I was amazed at the length of time that they were quietly playing (always a red flag). It turns out that the sound of the washer and dryer combined with the dishes were enough to drown out the destruction that was taking place on the other side of the house. Again, Caleb came running in to notify me, "Madi's getting in trouble." This time, I found her in the sink! All two and a half feet of her, as well as her lovely corduroy pants, cute little purple shirt, and fresh diaper were sitting in the sink...sitting, that is, in 6 inches of water. She was thoroughly soaked. Furthermore, the carpet was thoroughly soaked. She had used her cute little velvet-lined jewelry box as a bucket, scooping boxfulls of water and dumping them onto the floor. AUUUUUUUUUUUUGHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!
